Robert Leeper Landscapes | Northwest Hills
4106 Honeycomb Rock Cir, Austin, TX 78731 View On Google Maps
"This project is a complete landscape remodel featuring an expanded patio and a custom outdoor fireplace, designed to complement the aesthetic of the home and its interiors. The homeowner’s goal was to create a vibrant and visually appealing garden space that matched the elegance of their interior décor, following the motto “more is more.” The design expanded the backyard by moving the fence to incorporate previously unused space, allowing for a larger entertaining area. The landscape also took into account the local deer population, utilizing selective plant choices to protect the garden. Signature features include a one-of-a-kind outdoor fireplace, a custom-stained fence, and a unique patio design that integrated old bricks from the house into the stonework. The plant palette is diverse, with colorful selections aimed at attracting butterflies, hummingbirds, and other birds, adding to the garden's lively atmosphere."

"This project is a beautiful example of what can be achieved on a small lot with a limited budget and a DIY mindset. Transforming an abandoned landscape, the homeowners brought in over 100 plants from their previous gardens, along with rocks and rusted metal to create a personalized and artistic space. The project began by removing dead trees and scraping the remnants of patchy lawn, leaving a blank slate for a desert-inspired garden. Challenges like Bermuda grass, a lack of shade, and extreme summer heat were overcome with patience, hardy plant choices, and thoughtful placement of garden art. Over time, the garden’s pathways formed organically as plants grew and filled in. By spring 2024, the garden became a vibrant forest of wildflowers, attracting pollinators and drawing the admiration of neighbors. This evolving space showcases how quickly a garden can thrive when the right plants are placed in the right environment, proving that beautiful, lush landscapes are possible even with limited resources."

"For this project, the homeowners gave us full creative freedom, inspiring us to design something bold and unique. Drawing inspiration from sculptor Isamu Noguchi, we incorporated curves and shapes reminiscent of rolling hills and boulders. On the Mary St. side, we aimed to create the feeling of passing through a landscape of sculpted terrain. Core-drilled boulders were permanently set in place, transitioning into gentle mounds of Korean zoysia and dianthus. The home's entrance features a lush design with boulders, maples, and dynamic topography, with additional areas reserved for seasonal color displays, making this landscape truly stand out."
Frontier Landscape | Tarrytown
3705 Windsor Rd, Austin, TX 78703 View On Google Maps
"This Tarrytown home features a beautifully landscaped exterior, but its true charm lies beyond antique doors and down a picturesque paseo that leads to a Latin American-inspired courtyard. Influenced by the homeowner's travels, the courtyard includes a covered dining area, an outdoor firepit, and a water feature reminiscent of rural troughs from the couple’s upbringing, creating a peaceful retreat. The main challenge of the project was managing drainage issues caused by the property's slope, which we successfully resolved. Carefully selected plants were chosen in consultation with the client to complement the residence. The home and its landscape were featured in the January 2023 edition of Luxe magazine."
Urban Landscape Group | Barton Hills/Zilker
1906 Cresthaven Dr, Austin, TX 78704 View On Google Maps
"This Zilker neighborhood property presented several challenges that became design opportunities. The yard featured a cluster of healthy oaks in the center and a large slope toward the house, making drainage a primary concern. The clients wanted distinct spaces for growing food, relaxing in a hammock, playing, and having a pool, without the pool dominating the design. We preserved the healthiest oaks, using them as the focal point in a linear oak mott, while situating the pool off the patio and outdoor kitchen. Steel retaining walls ensured proper drainage, while a blend of Berkley sedge, ferns, and palmettos softened the space. A garden area was created for food cultivation, along with thryallis and cherry laurels for privacy, blending functionality with beauty."
